The Rainforest Café and River Adventure Ride combine a tropical restaurant environment with the fun of an adventurous water ride. The restaurant and ride are housed in one building located on the seawall on the Gulf of Mexico approximately 10 feet above sea level and in a hurricane zone.
VAA provided civil and structural engineering services for the 2 ½ acre site. The redevelopment required demolition of the existing buildings, paving and utilities. The new facility and site, including patio dining, parking and pedestrian plaza were carefully integrated into the heavily developed neighborhood without interrupting the operations of a nearby restaurant, resort hotel and single-family housing complex.
The exterior features of this building include a 55' tall mountain, multiple waterfalls, and a perimeter pool with two timber bridges. The interior features include a multitude of themed accents to disguise structural members and create the themed restaurant and river ride experience.
