T5 (Terminal 5), Port of Portland
Portland, Oregon

VAA provided design and final engineering for Columbia Grain's cleaning house and additions to its existing grain storage and trans loading facility along the Willamette River. Civil engineering included site design and permitting for the cleaning house and rail receiving additions. The integration of new facilities within a "greenway" zoning district along the river was a key concern for this project. This facility was the first high capacity/near precision level cleaning facility in the Pacific Northwest, and now leads the field in exporting of clean wheat to Japan.

Other work includes engineering of upgrades for added storage and enhanced cleaning and shipping facilities.

VAA provided project management, general arrangements, process design, structural, civil and electrical engineering for this project.

Due to the success of this industry leading project VAA was able to participate in three other high capacities, close tolerance wheat cleaning major facilities. Terminal 5 continues to lead the industry in its efforts and improve its operations and machinery.
