VAA provided civil, structural and industrial architectural services for an expansion to an existing plant. Project included:
Dough mixer foundations
Motor control room (MCC room)
Oven foundation
Miscellaneous plant modifications in support of the process
A containment structure outside for a transformer
VAA also provided an analysis of the foundation for a mixer for the flour hoppers, next to the hopper stand. There is a significant dynamic loading component that needed to be taken into account for the mixer foundation design.
This project had a very aggressive schedule, which our team met comfortably. In order to meet the schedule we staffed properly and planned ahead. Our team, working on General Mills project is experienced in doing this type of work. This experience combined with our strong communication skills, enables us to know what needs to be done so we can effectively produce high quality deliverables.
VAA provides a consistent team of experienced professionals from each discipline assigned to food projects. This consistency adds value to General Mills while enabling us to train additional staff to aid in future projects. This is the approach we strive to take for our clients. We continue to work with General Mills on an ongoing basis.
Snack Bar Expansion - Belvedere, Illinois
VAA provided civil, structural and industrial architectural services for this phased project where there were significant modifications to an existing plant in six areas.
Loading dock expansion for receiving food grade oats
A stainless steel kitchen platform for mixing the oat mixture for granola bars
Significant rooftop modifications for rooftop mechanical units
Employee welfare area, which included a lunchroom, locker rooms and a couple of offices
Additional offices built on a new mezzanine above an existing area, to be converted into production space
Containment area and re-grading outside the oats receiving dock, containment for trucks and for new tanks, and for transformers.
Sanitary design is part of everything we do with General Mills. We utilized our specialized experience in sanitary design and followed, AIB (American Institute of Baking) and General Mills standards for sanitation.
