Ag-Chem™ manufactures both three and four wheeled vehicles with a variety of systems on the chassis of the equipment to apply fertilizers and chemicals. They were looking to build a new assembly plant in Jackson, MN.
VAA teamed with Williams Engineering Associates to do a study and report on the recommended plant layout with all of the new features requested by Ag Chem. Our team look at how they were currently operating, assembling, what their goals were and how best to modernize their operations. Their goal was to have the study done in one month and to move ahead into final production plant layout and to begin the building design process quickly.
VAA utilized our experience in industrial process, working with manufacturing plants and strong intuitive design skills to review their operations. We worked closely with their architect and plant engineers along with their senior management. Through a collaborative effort, we developed an efficient layout for the plant including assembly and office areas.
The production area incorporated a “U” shaped flow line with production support activities in the infield area. The office has large viewing windows where customers can see their machines in the final assembly stations, being painted and driven out the door.
Industrial engineering, architectural, structural, mechanical and electrical engineering were provided by VAA. Additionally, VAA performed civil engineering design for large concrete paved areas for storage of large pieces of equipment and assembled vehicles.
